Donald Trump is flailing. THAT, my friends, is a good thing.
As the excitement of the most exciting DNC convention in modern United States history winds down, as we are still bouncing to the beats and the rhythm of said excitement, Donald Trump has been fumbling, bumbling, bloviating and rambling. “The Donald” has been sputtering out.
As per usual, Trump has been continuing to speak in front of his “cult of personality” MAGA crowds; the crowds he keeps gaslighting (or attempting to) everyone into believing are the “largest ever”, larger than the late Martin Luther King Jr’s “I have a dream” speech crowds were. But Trump is speaking with massively deflated enthusiasm and any last semblance of being able to make sense with that “big brain” of his that he always brags about having inherited from his MIT professor uncle.
If he weren’t such a malicious and horrible and traitorous and murderously mean man, or shall I say, petulant, yet dangerous “child”, I might feel a little sorry for him. He is suffering.
But I. do. not.
Not one iota.
I have noticed, in these extraordinary “largest crowds ever seen” he speaks of, the audience standing behind him appearing more and more to be bored. Not only that, if you really look closely you can see that their minds seem to be drifting off as if they are daydreaming. Some are yawning. I am seeing more frequent twisted looks of confusion on more of his fans’ faces, as if they are to trying to decide if what he is saying is a “good thing” or a “bad thing”, and wondering whether they should applaud and cheer. Or not. I have watched them getting lazier and lazier about holding up those signs that ironically say YOU’RE FIRED, referring to Kamala, but appearing as though they are referring to the Loser, with their listless, non enthusiastic arms.
It is, in a word; pathetic. Donald Trump doesn’t even have a message other than whining. Cringe worthily pathetic.
Late last night, right before I went to sleep, I noticed a DOJ newsreel on YouTube. It was a press conference that was held yesterday. The title caught my eye immediately. It read like this: “DOJ Sues RealPage For Algorithmic Pricing Scheme That Harms Millions Of American Renters”. Wow, I thought, I am way interested in this.
I hoped it was getting more press, and being widely reported. Honestly, probably not. So let me let you in on the secret.
In an earlier article I wrote, I mentioned the fact that innocent, good and hardworking Americans are being regularly and blatantly price-gouged by corporate “do-no-gooders”, and that it has gotten severely out of control. I mentioned that my most recent search for a new apartment had revealed rents in my area of Massachusetts had gone up in the course of just one year, by a shocking eight hundred and sixty percent. And I also said that when I first saw that, it took me a long time to realize that, no, it was not a typo.
Up until yesterday, perhaps it appeared as though absolutely nothing was being done about it.
One of the speakers who spoke at this press conference was US Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco. Lisa is clearly a high ranking, no nonsense, highly respected and competent government official, one who played a very large role in this recent development coming to pass.
Donald Trump has a history of publicly making fun of Lisa Monaco. I need not get into his mocking accusations, as I feel it is below me to even bring up what he said. But it was at his MAGA rallies, and it was one of his repeated punch lines.
MAGA works for corporate greed.
The truth is that I hadn’t ever seen Lisa at a press conference before. Maybe you hadn’t either. I didn’t even know what Lisa Monaco looks like. And why is that?
At the risk of insulting anyone’s intelligence, allow me to say that these are behind-the-scenes positions. The people involved in these investigations are not really seen too much. They are engaged in the highest level, not made public (until they are completed), investigations, working to protect we-the-people. No one can credibly argue me on that. That is one of the ways that investigations can be effective investigations.
RealPage is one of the many malevolent companies who have been price-fixing the things that we need to survive. For instance millions of Americans are paying upwards of one third of their hard earned income on rent alone. That leaves little in the bank after forking out these fixed, exorbitant rent costs. It is corporate greed, not the democrats, that are driving up food prices, gas prices and the price of life-saving and necessary prescription drugs. It is corporate greed that cares nothing about posting an eviction notice on your door if you fall upon hard times. Corporate greed could not care less if children and adults are going hungry every day. They have it set up, and continue to fix it so that misfortunes are more likely to happen, and are happening. It is inhumane, and furthermore, it is highly, highly illegal.
Once again, at the risk of insulting your intelligence, they want to continue doing this. Not only that, they really, really are frothing at their collective greedy corporate mouths to get Donald Trump back into office so that they can ramp it up, not just a little, but ramp it up to the umpteenth degree.
The “MAGA hearings” were ones in which they made AG Merrick Garland waste hours and hours on end of precious time, not to mention OUR tax dollars, grilling him about their contrived and ill conceived “weaponization of the federal government.” This has been their routine, so frequent to the point of being highly predictable. US Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, was subject to same as AG Merrick Garland, nearly to the point of being impeached and losing his position. Insurrectionist supporters who kiss the ring of Trump, like Jim Jordan and Andy Biggs leading the charge.
What are democrats, according to MAGA, doing? These shysters and criminals in our United States Congress have been attempting to persecute them for, wait for it, working to assist and help “we-the-people.” We pay these public servants with our tax dollars. In a democracy, these government agencies work for US.
The criminals-in-Congress work for corporate greed. The protocol to achieve this is to incessantly demonize, mock and attempt to degrade those in positions of leadership who are to helping the American people. They try to make the good guys out to be the bad guys. It is the classic playbook for authoritarianism takeovers: take the friend-to-the-people who works for the people and convince others that that are do-no-gooders, like themselves.
But. We. Have. Had. Enough. And WE are not going back.
Working our butts off right now without ceasing, and I mean without ceasing to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz to the White House means that we do not get abused by vicious corporate greed and the MAGA cult members in our Congress.
It means that the criminals get shut down. It gives us a too long awaited fighting chance to live in freedom with a government that works for us. And that we are happier, freer and more loving towards one another because we are just that little bit or a lot less stressed.
I, for one, am all in for that. How about YOU?
On Saturday afternoons we gather for our Grassroots Of Democracy “getting the work done” session. It is a wonderful opportunity to put aside a designated time each week to tend to the democracy tasks we may have pushed to the side in our busy lives. Won’t you join us today?
Don't know what to work on? No problem ! We will help you! Email grassrootsofdemocracy@gmail.com to express your interest and to receive the Zoom information.
I agree and am all in as well, Annette. Thank you for sharing this DOJ update. It's unfair to blame President Biden for the prices that the corporations set. The gouging must stop. The greed must stop. Hoping the corporate whistleblower awards program that Lisa Monaco and her team are implementing is a huge success. ~ Terri
