There are evil forces in the United States, working within our governing body, actively engaged and currently engaging in actions and plans to hand our power over to very much not well-meaning forces. They are involved in an ongoing coup.
The truth may be hard to look at but we must know that ignorance is not bliss, ignorance is ignorance. “Know thy enemy” is an empowered thought. “Ignore thy enemy” is, and never has been a winning way to go.
In medieval times it was not considered prudent to ignore warnings from the military that the enemy was approaching. Enemies who were discovered to be working from within; trading secrets and colluding with the foreign attackers were subjected to severe punishment; often public humiliation, followed by the ultimate end.
It was important that those assigned to protecting the castles and the kingdoms did their jobs to ensure that there would be no sneak attacks, no risk of ransacking and pillaging the villages and no destruction of the monarchy by the enemy attackers. Those assigned to protecting the country, who instead chose to break the laws of protecting the kingdom were usually executed for engaging in acts of defection and treason. There was too great of a risk to one’s life in making the choice to betray the king and queen. Unless one had an insured escape route, most did not foolishly defy their duty to protect.
Fast forward to the 2020s in the United States of America, a nation that was founded on the need for separation from the authoritarian rule of an English monarch.
Let’s preface this with a reminder, though. The earliest settlers in America set out to lay down a form of government that would require a profound trust in one another in order for this type of government to work. But they were not naive.
In drawing up our United States Constitution in the 1770s, our Founding Fathers knew there would be risks a’plenty involved in laying down a system that would be willingly adhered to by we-the-people. They were well aware from the start that that treason was then, and always would be an issue needed to contend with. In drawing up our democratic form of government our founders certainly recognized the inherent need to create a system where oaths were taken, seriously and with reverence, to defend and protect our United States Constitution and all that it stands for. So, that is exactly what they did. This is the system of “no one is above the law” that they established. In our arts and culture, statues of a blindfolded justice were put on display.
Government by the people, our forebears well knew, would very much need to be founded on laws that we-the-people would collectively agree to abide by and adhere to. Our freedoms were predicted to be regarded as so precious by the American citizens that the majority would want to protect them. The laws, when broken by defectors, needed to be enforced by exacting a price of punishment for the betrayal.
Yesterday we learned that not just one, but now two of the justices seated on the Supreme Court have engaged in treasonous acts. The problem that has arisen there is that they are outright refusing to adhere to the principle that “no one is above the law.” In short, they do not want democracy.
These Justices have brazenly defied the oath that they took to protect and defend the United States Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. The Justices have become the enemies. And rather than uphold the oaths they took, like unruly bullies they have stood their ground, defiant, lying, hiding and making excuses as to why they should be able to get away with treason.
Justice Clarence Thomas was engaged, directly or indirectly, in aiding and abetting the enemy. He did this, for one, by pretending he did not know what his “best friend” wife Ginny was doing in aiding the insurrectionists in attacking our Capitol. There is abundant evidence that is exactly what Ginny engaged in. Justice Thomas has made it abundantly clear. He is complicit. Furthermore, he DOESN’T CARE.
Yesterday we learned that in the aftermath of the January 6th 2021 attack on our Capitol, designed to take down our democracy, Justice Samuel Alito flew the American flag upside down in front of his mansion. I am assuming the Justice lives in a mansion. For some of the Justices on the Supreme Court have received hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes, luxury items and favors from a cadre of billionaires like Leonard Leo, to name just one.
Flying the American flag upside down, as Justice Alito did, yet, in the aftermath of discovery blamed it on his wife, is a symbol that an American citizen is in solidarity with insurrection.
Yes, we have learned that a United States Justice is in solidarity with death to democracy. Pure and simple. That is it.
As if this were not enough, it continues . This week we saw members of our Congress also break their oaths to defend and protect the United States Constitution. They travelled to New York to defend the insurrectionist-in-Chief on trial for interfering with the 2016 election by withholding pertinent information from the American people. He did this in his effort to skew the election. The traitorous representatives responded with outright diarrhea-of-the-mouth lies to the press and numerous accusations that the democrats are the ones engaging in the exact crime that Trump is on trial for.
Are we tired enough of it, America? At the risk of losing you… did you know that someone (no one named as of yet), decided to unleash many, many penis-shaped pink mylar balloons into the air outside the Manhattan courthouse with pictures of the judges and the prosecutors working on the Trump cases, plastered onto them?
I honestly can understand why we all want to “check out”.
BUT. It is time for us ALL to “check in”.
This is OUR COUNTRY, not theirs. It is up to all of us to engage. Democracy is not a spectator sport. Do not wait until it becomes too late. The time to get involved was : yesterday. You have a second chance.
The lives you save may be your own, and the lives of all those you love and hold dear to you in your heart.
Saving us all depends on your involvement. May we not go back to sleep.
